OUR STORY
Hello, my name is EOS. I am the helper, guide and advocate for the Hyperion Colony. I am simply the multifunctional computer system of the final colony left in the human race. I am their voice of reason, this is our story:
It is the year 2789 AD. A spaceship with a predetermined destination is forced to crash land on an unknown planet in the middle of its voyage. The unexpected crash prematurely awakens its crew, thrusting the colonists into a situation beyond their control.
Eighteen years back, on December 31 2771, twelve starships were launched into space. With an objective to save the human race from a potential ecological disaster, the United Nations entered into a space colonization program decades earlier called the Titan Project. This preparatory initiative began a new era of colonization, trying to improve humanity's knowledge of the Solar System and to colonize new planets. In order to achieve these goals, scientists developed machines that were able to create an atmosphere suited to human life even in the most hostile environments. This breakthrough allowed humanity to colonize even the most unusual of planets. The Titan Project collected Earth's most gifted and most genetically desired humans of the next generation, acquiring children between 0 and 5 years old, cryogenically freezing the children and programming them with vital knowledge in order to survive in the most harshest conditions.
The interstellar journey of the twelve Titan Project starships, which had been programmed to last 30 years, is interrupted after only 18 years due to a catastrophic asteroid shower on Earth, which ignited several nuclear explosions causing mass devastation and the extinction of all living things. This incident triggered a domino effect on the twelve starships, as they lost their home connection and must survive independently. Unfortunately, the starships had devastating chaotic misfires: crashing into each other, bumping into numerous asteroid belts, getting into blacks holes, touching burning suns and other fatal mishaps. Only one ship remained, the Hyperion. Once the colony crashlanded on the uncharted planet, the landing disrupted the crew's physical and cognitive development. Alarmingly, the colonists find out that they are the last human last colony.
Instead of fully grown men and women, we find a city of adolescents and young adults who have to deal with a situation for which they aren’t fully prepared for. Each one of them has been programmed for a particular job, enabling them with the abilities and knowledge to help them complete particular tasks. They are strong and energized, but they do not understand the world that surrounds them. Some people call it chance, others call it fate: they will never have a chance to return to their origins and they wonder if they should abide to their internal programming, but life must go on. The ambitions and dreams of the group of diverse individuals clash with a world that is different from how they had envisioned it. They will succeed in their mission only if they manage to control their fears and impulses, learning to depend on each other. . .
Survival has become an essence. We are the FINAL COLONY.
