”Please don’t call me JD. Dr McKinley if you don’t mind.” He said as he watched Catrina plop down in the chair. He didn’t know why, but the nickname JD did not set right with him. It almost sent shivers down his spine. He smiled slightly as she realized that her pants where ruined. He walked over and pulled a sheet off of the linen cart before returning to Catrina’s side. He unfolded the sheet and placed it over her lap.
”All set?” he asked, but without waiting for an answer he carted her out the door and into the hallway. As they exited the room, they where greeted with the hustle and bustle of a busy ER. Nurses and Techs where coming and going. Doctors stood together discussing cases, and patients where being moved to exam rooms and some to the inpatient area.
”I’m out Kim.” He said to the nurse as they passed by the nurse station. ”Have a good night. I’ll see you in two days.” He said as he pushed Catrina towards the ER exit on the way to her room. The ship was very large and would take a little bit to get to the living quarters. The noise of the ER quieted as they got farther away, slowly being replace by comfortable silence only broken by occasional conversations of passer-bys. When they had made it into the main corridor Jordan looked down at Catrina and smiled slightly.
”So, what where you doing out of the ship on your own?’ He asked quietly so only the two of them could hear.

Cat completely ignored his ‘please don’t call me JD’. She was going to call him that anyways, she liked it and it fit him perfectly, plus if they were ever going to be friends she couldn’t call him ‘doc’ forever. The girl smiled as he placed the sheet across her lap. She nodded when he asked if she was all set and off they went, heading out into the ER first. She just smiled and sat there contently as the Doc said his goodbyes. Soon they were in a quiet hallway; this was so much more peaceful compared to the hustle and bustle of the busy ER.
”So, what where you doing out of the ship on your own?’ She heard him ask.
“Oh yea,” She says as she pulled her camera up to where he can see, “I was out trying to take pictures of the wildlife, I’m journaling my findings. The hill kinda snuck up on me as I couldn’t see it through my lenses. Luckily I wasn’t that far from base, don’t know if I would have made It back otherwise.”

Jordan had settled in to a comfortable pace close to his normal waking speed. At this speed they would make it to Catrina’s room in a couple of minutes. Most of the trip would be spent in the going down the main corridor before going up a few floors. He had made this trip many times and knew it very well, allowing him to focus on the conversation.
”Any farther out and you wouldn’t have. I’m actually surprised you did get back to the ship.” He paused briefly. ”But I’m glad you did. You may want to be more careful in the future.” He gave another slight pause. ”And maybe next time you shouldn’t go alone.”

The halls were pretty empty at this point, it was just the two of them. Cat fidgeted in her seat as the continued on their way. She hated sitting for any length of time, she’d much rather be up running around exploring or playing with her camera. The camera had returned to her chest where it hung around her neck and now her hands were fiddling with one another as she listened to the Doc talk. He was right she really shouldn’t have been out alone but it was so much easier to just go then try and recruit an already busy military person.
“I will be more careful, I’d rather no repeat this again… it wasn’t that fun, though I’ve enjoyed your company. And its just easier to go it alone, but I will think about dragging someone along with me next time.” She said softly as she continued to fidget and fiddle around.

He watched as Catrina fiddled and fidgeted with her camera. Even as she spoke she was moving. This girl just can’t sit still. Great. he though to himself as they neared the elevators. She is not going to follow my instructions and get herself hurt, and I’m going to have to fix her again. She’ll probably try and take a shower the minute I leave her alone.
”Well, I certainly hope you take my advise the next time the urge to injured yourself hits you.” He said with more than a little sarcasm. ”At any rate, you’re a lovely lady who would look better without all the scars your ‘adventures’ will give you.” As he said this, Jordan made a turn down the corridor leading to the elevators. He moved to the first one and pressed the button to summon it. Seconds later the metal doors slid silently open to reveal a brightly colored interior. It was meant to be warm and feel open, but no matter what it was still small. Jordan, Catrina, and the hover-chair would easily fit, but no one else would be joining them. The doors slid closed and Jordan pressed the button for their floor.
