Jasmine faltered at the doors of the Collection. She wasn't quite sure why she was there. It had been a few days since she had met Xander in the gym. Some part of her knew that it wasn't normal for her to go to his place of work. What was she looking for? Did she want reassurance that he had healed? Or to see if he was going to come back to the gym? Or did she just want to feel that out-of-control emotion that had consumed her last time? She took a deep breath, calming her to the very core as she opened the door.
She stepped inside the Collection, marvelling at the quiet, and at the utter comfort of the room. Why was it comforting? Because she was surrounded by knowledge? Parts of the place she had come from? Was she longing for Earth, and her family? Her life surrounded by people? That made no sense. She was surrounded by people. Her family was on the ship. She had yet to notice them though. She glanced around, her eyes looking for Xander, hoping she wouldn't have to look too hard to find him. Was he even here?

Xander was walking into the Collection, sipping his warm expresso that he had just gotten on his break in his right hand. He was still rather sore from his so-called "workout" from a few days ago. He had wanted to meet up with Jasmine once again but did not know how he would initiate contact with her. She was on his mind every so often, which altered his emotional state, there was a desire to see her again. On the practical sense, he knew he was programmed to follow orders and to rely on the job responsibilities that were set upon him. Since their first encounter, he worked long shifts, the Communications team had just uncovered that they were not the living things on the island. There was talk that there would be a team of colonists that would explore the region in a few days, to ensure that the Hyperion colony would be safe. He had heard that perhaps he would be part of the expedition, which would perhaps lead to a more complicated separation situation with Jasmine. But did she really like him the same way that he liked her?
As he lifted his cup down his face, he saw the Fitness Consultant before him. He startled himself when he saw her that some of his hot drink splashed into his face. He felt the sprinkled burns, but tried not to react, hoping to not shave off more of his masculinity in front of her.

Jasmine smiled just a little when she saw him spill his coffee. That must have hurt. From where she stood she could smell the intoxicating aroma of the coffee. She wondered briefly why it was so intoxicating. She had never even try the stuff. She didn't want to embarrass him, and she could tell he was trying not to react.
He was just as interesting a presence as before. For some reason, she suddenly felt ashamed of what she was wearing. She had picked it out because she thought it made her look good, but perhaps it was too clingy? She unconsciously readjusted the black skirt that hovered around her thighs, and tried to ignore the urge to pull her singlet up, which showed just a little too much cleavage. What was shy trying to do? Why would she choose to wear something like that? She nibbled at her bottom lip nervously. "Hey"

What would he say to her? He did not know what exactly to say. He had new information about the world around him, but he was sworn to secrecy, as to not startle the other colonists from other departments outside the small who knew about the imminent expedition to explore the island. He could do small talk, which would not be as bothersome for both individuals. He wiped his face with his hands, trying to relieve the sprinkled moisture on his face. "The smell of coffee is very addicting, this is just my second cup and I sort of want more" he said. He laid his cup on the counter and removed his cardigan.
As he readjusted his shirt sleeves, he looked at her, and marveled at her beauty. Without her fitness uniform, she looked more beautiful. Her silky hair, those pearly eyes and that black shirt? Yes, he liked it all. He was sort of impressed that she looked her best, feeling that she was trying to make some sort of statement. Dang, does she want to go out and hang? I do have a ton of work to complete.
"Hey" he said right back as he leaned his back on the counter with his hands mounted on counter as well, trying to flex his toned arms.

The nerves didn't go away as he spoke. She wished she had something to hold on to, to distract herself from the knot in her stomach. She twisted her fingers around each other, twisting at the skin and pressing on her nails.
She smiled as he spoke about the coffee, and tried to distract herself from his arms as he took off his cardigan. Why was she so nervous around him? He wasn't exactly the type of man she had thought she would be attracted to. But he seemed nice, and kind. And yes, he looked pretty good for a man who wears cardigans.
"I haven't tried it yet. I hear caffeine can be very addictive. Why do you drink it?" She asked out of mild curiosity. The liquid did smell nice, but she really just wanted to talk to him. Not about something in particular, just in general. She wanted to know more about him, and if finding out more meant listening to that smooth, velvety voice, she could definitely do that.

Pondering for a couple seconds, he replied "The smell makes me alive. There is something soothing about the aroma, I guess it reminds me of home.." .He noticed her being a little fidgety, was she actually nervous? "Do you want to try it, you can have sip?" he said, as he tried to calm her down and feel more comfortable within this setting. "The coffee is not that hot anymore, so there is no need to fear a burn."
"EOS, please show us the production of the Columbian coffee beans!" he said, within a millisecond a video displayed within the room, showing farmers from Earth harvesting the coffee beans.

Jasmine took a deep breath to calm herself and smiled. "Yes, I would love to try a sip." As the video appeared before them, she started a little. She hadn't used this technology before. She knew the basic theory of it, but she wasn't sure she liked it. She preffered the simple things- treadmills and ellipticals.
She watched, a little fascinated as the video played. She wasn't so interested in the way coffee beans were harvested, but this was a video of Earth. These were her people. She wondered if her family had known these people? Surely Earth wasn't such a big place. She didn't know much about her home planet, but she imagined that everyone was like family. Whatever that meant.

Xander, trying to impress Jasmine with his domain, grabbed the cup and tipped it towards her in an offering. "Welcome to The Collection by the way, this is the library of human knowledge. You can learn about everything in here, did you want EOS to answer something for you?" he asked politely. As the video played, the smell of coffee beans came into the room, the heat of the Earth's sun began to radiate into the room, which recreated sensual feelings of a past from long ago.
He smiled in delight as he saw her face of awe within his area of expertise, little did he know that his profession can be turned into a personal dating room.

Jasmine took the cup and lifted it slowly to her lips. She could feel the warmth of the sun on her skin, and the smell of coffee grew stronger. Was this just the technology, or was it a reaction to him? Or even a reaction to the coffee. She sipped the liquid carefully. Her face screwed up just a little as she tried to hide her distaste. Coffee was bitter and awful. She handed it back to him. "Maybe it's not for me."
She focused her eyes back on the screen and luxuriated in the warmth. "This is lovely."

Looking at her face of discomfort, he gave a little smirk in delight. He liked the idea that she tried his drink for some reason, as if it meant that she trusted him. He moved right next to her, looking at the video that was facing in front of them which was continuing to play.
"The Collection provides the aurora of both theories and facts from the very best of humanity," he said. "it is a pity that we are by ourselves now.". He placed his right hand up, which motioned the video to pause. "EOS, thanks you." he said as he turned to her.
"We only have each other for comfort. So, what were you looking for?" he asked her.

She listed carefully to him, and was only a little saddened when the warmth of the Earth sun left her skin. She turned automatically as he moved. What was she looking for? Yes, right. What HAD she been looking for? Somehow it didn't seem right to say 'you'. But that wasn't a strong feeling. "You. I still haven't met that many people and I thought I'd try socialising" The foreign word stumbled over her lips as they framed it. Socialising. What did it really mean? How does one know when they are socialising?

"Well, I guess my work can wait, I shall take an extended lunch break." he said smiling at her, was this an invite? A date? Or a hang-out? The lines were kind of blurred as to whether they were a couple or just simply friends. Socializing could mean a lot of things, he was intrigued to learn what she really meant. It didn't really matter to Xander, there was something about Jasmine that turned him on. "Where exactly shall we go? Would you like to ask EOS for suggestions of venues?" he glanced at Jasmine as he poured out his right hand to motion EOS.
