Name: Cameron Immanuel Foster
Age: 23
Race: Human
Origin: Cameron was born to Patricia and Russell Foster. Russell was one the mechanical engineers working for the Titan Project under the leadership of Anya Yokomaru, and he volunteered his own sons to be tested and examined in hopes that one of them would be selected to embark upon the mission of the Project. In the end, Cameron wasn’t quite qualified to be a part of the mission. It was his younger brother, Vincent, who had the most desired traits, genetically and academically, to be assigned the engineer’s profession, and had the potential to perform the duty to the highest efficiency. Even at a mere three years old, his affinity for numbers, mechanics, and construction were obvious in his play. His IQ for a three-year-old was above average, like many of the others selected for their appropriate occupation. Cameron’s brother was lost, however, to a fatal car accident that took his father also.
Running out of time and potential candidates, the lead development team of the Titan Project settled upon Cameron, who had not yet passed the age limit, to takes his brother’s place. While his qualifications did not match his brother’s, they were adequate enough to surpass the other hopefuls. Cameron’s mother, however, was not so keen to let her only son leave her, especially after she’d already lost her husband and her youngest son. She made a deal with the researchers to leave Cameron’s memory intact, and to upload at the very least, images of his lost family, so that he would remember where he came from, and what he was on a quest to protect. Although grudgingly, they agreed, lest they have to settle on their number three candidate.
Into the final frontier, five-year old Cameron and many other brave souls ventured forth. Frozen in his chamber, Cameron learned the essential information he would need to maintain and repair the ships engines and other vital parts, while dreaming of his lost family. He carried with him their love, their hopes, and their dreams.
Personality: Cameron’s personality is difficult to discern. Having merely developed in the short life span he had on Earth and downloaded digitally through the freezer tube, his disposition is both unparalleled and puzzling. His demeanor is one complete with paradoxes and contradictions. His belief system is no organized structure, but a malleable, inconsistent, and evolving one, adjusting and reorganizing itself as he experiences life. In effect, his morals don’t always make sense, and they change as time moves forward. He acts on his impulses, neither planning nor analyzing his life at any point in time; afterall, he’s really only just begun to live. He can be rather brash and irrational, spontaneous, reckless, argumentative, sarcastic, stubborn, and aggressive.
Cameron is a rebel at heart and occasionally considers himself to be the exception to the rules. He feels neither dominated nor governed by them, rebelling against them simply because they exist. He has a difficult time obeying his superiors, believing the entire colony exists on equal footing, nobody ranking over another.
Cameron’s personality as well as his life is dominated by a primitive need to survive. He’s a focused, ambitious, protective, headstrong man marked by the tragedy of the colony’s situation and the weight of mankind’s survival on their shoulders. He possesses a very proud and confident demeanor complimented by a zealous and rebellious nature. He’s full of energy and passion, but finds himself having a hard time discovering joy in the life he’s been given on this new planet. He’s driven solely by his survival instinct and a need to protect his fellow man.
While his persona is indeed dominated by such rash emotions, these passions are only the forefront of his overall character. Beneath the shell of sarcasm, rebellion, and irrationality is compassion, benevolence, and sensitivity. Cameron yearns for the company of other people. The idea of conversation, companionship, and sharing stories, laughter, suffering, and tears fascinates him. He cherishes his family— the colonist, his companions— and so far hasn’t coped well with the deaths of those who did not survive the crash.
Cameron Foster is, overall, a respectable man with a large heart full of passion. However, his aggressive, controlling, and sometimes overbearing nature is difficult to endure and even harder to be fond of. It’s not unusual for people to shy away from his company. In the end, as much joy as he would find in cultivating friendships, he finds himself pushing people away in an effort to remain focused and alert.
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Role Play Sample: The days were longer on this planet than they were on Earth, at least that’s what Cameron’s downloaded information told him. The sun shone brightly down upon those colonist comfortable enough to leave the safety of the ship and venture outside. Seven days have past since Cameron’s awakening. He spent his first day adjusting to a body he hadn’t used in eighteen years. It was strange to him, and yet familiar. The technology of the cryogenic chambers was astounding. Once he found his balance, walking was easy -- his muscles fully formed and functional. Vague memories plagued him: faces he knew but could put names to, an earth he “remembered,” but had barely even seen, and a goal, a mission he was meant to achieve. The knowledge of his duty to this colony was at the forefront of his consciousness, and he spent the last five days tinkering within the bowels of the engine room deciding what could be saved, and determining the future of the ship’s operational functions.
Day seven, the first day he had actually set foot outside the safety of the ship. He sat in a grassy area, soaking up the glorious sunshine; but ever the worker, he held a clipboard before him, many pages scribbled with various notes about the ship’s condition. His watery, blue eyes scanned the pages now. His brow furrowed, and a frown marred his features. Bottom line, he’d have to tell the Captain, there’s no flying this ship again. He dreaded the moment, knowing full well their Captain had plenty of hardships to deal with already. Cameron laid his notes on the grass beside him deciding there was nothing more he could really accomplish today. A heavy sigh escaped his lips, the burden of the bad news weighing heavy on his conscience.
He had to push these thoughts from his mind, determined to give his brain a break. Perhaps there was something he was overlooking. A clear mind tomorrow would be beneficial. He stared out towards the horizon. A handful of clouds dotted the sky, a sky so much like the one he remembered. Cameron concentrated on the fleeting memories flickering across his mind, hoping that some piece of knowledge, other than the knowledge of the engine room, would click in his mind. As he stared into nothingness, time passed quickly. The sun had begun to set before his mind brought him back to the present.
