"Attention, Hyperion crew."
Throughout the ship, Jasten Macala's voice echoed down the halls, relayed through the ship-wide intercom system. It was a matter of hours since the captain had been woken from his cryochamber, and here he was already dealing with a ship wide announcement. It was important however. He couldn't simply let the entire crew flounder about, unsure of what was going on, regardless of the fact he was barely more informed than the rest of them. Regardless of the fact he was absolutely terrified. The information programmed into Jasten's mind during the past few years was absolutely clear on the matter of the human reaction to sudden disorientation, and he was fairly certain waking up ten years too early on a ship that had stopped moving with out a clue would be included in the definition of 'disorientated.'
"This is your commanding officer speaking."
Commanding officer. It was a new thing to him, nevermind the fact he was practically bred for it. Mere hours ago, Jasten had been just another sleeping body on a ship filled with them, an irrelevant lump of flesh in the workings of this immense machine. Now however, awake and alert, he was suddenly in possession of more authority than any other individual on board the Hyperion. Jasten didn't care if that's what he was supposed to do, he didn't care at all. It was new, it was strange, and it was almost as terrifying as being completely lost on whatever planet surface the ship had managed to crash land on. The 'yes sirs' would take some getting used to, to but it mildly.
"Our vessel has suffered from unexpected circumstances, and has crash landed on an unknown planet. Currently, system scans are reporting a large amount of damage on the vessel's outer hull, however our interior has remained relatively uncompromised. The planet's atmosphere appears to be breathable, so if you encounter a hull breach, do not panic."
He paused, before continuing on.
"I urge you all to remain calm. I am currently working alongside the shipboard AI to perform a complete inspection of the vessel, and will be reporting any problems that are discovered as we work. In the meantime, all non combat personel are to report to their divisions to await further orders. Security and military personel are to assist any injured or incapacitated crew and transport them to the medbay, where we have medical officers on standby."
Medical officers, he said. Unfortunately, at the moment Jasten knew of only one that was awake, the girl whom he had ran into after awakening. Alongside a member of the military division, they had made their way to the command center, before he had ordered both of them to the medbay. Hopefully, more medical staff would have awoken and would make their way to their positions now. Chances were there were a number of wounded crew, and the medbay would need to be well staffed if they were to treat each one.
"Furthermore, all command crew and unit leads should report to the command center to be debriefed. In order to maintain optimal operation capabilities, all divisions will need to be brought up to date as quickly as possible. "
Wasn't that the truth of it.
"Further updates will be announced. Please standby.
"Captain Macala out."
