Up followed by a word she didn’t understand. Oh joy here we go up up and away. “Just don’t look down… don’t look down… don’t look down.” Cat thought to herself as she steadied herself to her feet as Kai climbed to the next branch. She reached up and took his hand yet again and grabbed hold of the branch and climbed up.
The climb was slow and her breathing was becoming labored as they continued higher up. Her leg was holding up well enough and didn’t really hurt all that badly. About half way up Cat stopped. Climbing was wearing her out and it was getting difficult to breath. She hadn’t been out of cryosleep all that long and really wasn’t conditioned for all this work. Kai was on the branch above her ready to offer her assistant but she was beginning to wonder if she would make it to the top. The sky was so close now.
“How much higher are we going?” she asked knowing full well he wouldn’t understand her.
Cat shook her head and raised herself to her feet once more. She was determined to make it the rest of the way. Soon they reached where he wanted to be. Catrina was focusing really hard on not thinking about how high she was in a tree with a random fox man. The sight took her breath away. You could see the clearing from where the ship had crashed into the planet and then just tree tops.
“Its beautiful…” She said aloud, staring out above the trees, still clutching to the branch she was squatted on, holding on for dear life.
The female was tired, he could tell that much, but... well, it wasn't too much further (by his possibly skewed terms, at least), and he himself was confident he could offer as much help as was needed. And as for getting down... well, that was the really easy part. There were his one or two cushiony spots for just that purpose, after all; rather that than go through the trouble of actively climbing.
"Can still see more, if you want," he offered, moving himself up to a standing position and giving a little wave toward the land in general. It wasn't much of a difference beyond sitting or squatting, but it still was a difference all the same. One he intended to aid her with as he held a hand back out to her and gave a little tilt of his head toward the land before them. A bit more, say from his viewpoint, and they could just see the ocean, and overall, quite a bit of the scenery on the large island when it really came to it.
"Oh right... and the camera. Going to use that?" he curiously inquired, glancing momentarily to said 'camera'. Failing having the greatest common sense regardless, he partly abandoned his previous gesture to kneel down and carefully put an arm around Cat's waist, decidedly (and just as carefully) aiding her in moving up properly to her feet while himself providing everything she might need for actual support, thanks especially to how good in general his balance was. Better yet, if there did become any sort of problem, there was always his claws dug into the bark. That tended to work wonders for him.
"Friend... Cat... beautiful?" he hazarded, in the female's tongue no less, shortly thereafter, hoping at least this 'beautiful' meant something like 'looks good'. She... well, she looked interesting, at least, and little compliments were supposed to go a long way with friends and the like... right?
He'd observed such between others back in the old settlement, anyway...

Catrina watched as he stood. Nope. There was no way she was letting go of this branch. He made motion to the land and view but it wasn’t happening. She couldn’t let go. His eyes dropped to her camera. Oh yea, pictures. Crap she couldn’t let go to even do that.
Kai dropped beside her and placed an arm around her waist. “Oh no. No no no!” She said at first but he lifted her to her feet and she didn’t resist. And oh was she glad she didn’t. From a standing view point you could see the ocean. “Oh my….”
The view was outstanding. Both her hands were clutching to Kai’s arm as she stood on the branch. Slowly and steadily she released one hand and moved for her camera. Once there she brought it up to eye level. Now for the other hand… slow and steady. “Don’t let me go, okay. Don’t drop me.” She said softly pushing his arm into her hips hoping he got the idea not to let go.
With that she let go and brought her hand up to rest on the button of the camera. click click click The shutter clicked as it took picture after picture. Her breathing was still labored but it was getting easier to breath now. The sun was over head as it was midday now and you could see bird like creatures flying from the tree tops.
"Friend... Cat... beautiful?"
Cat instantly blushed. Had he just called her beautiful… no no he doesn’t understand what he’s saying. She smiled still hid behind the camera. She didn’t know how to reply to that. She lowered the camera after a few more shots and turned to look at him. One hand dropped down to his hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. “Yes. Friend.” She smiled brightly accepting the compliment.
The female was most certainly insisting something, but as for what... well, he could easily enough guess. Not enough to make out the words, unfortunately, but no doubt something to the effect of 'don't let go'. Indeed, he didn't intend to; letting quite probably his first actual friend fall and something bad quite possibly happen as a result? No, definitely not a chance. So to that he gave a quick nod, his grip around her waist tightening a little in turn per that and her physical prompting to such an end. He certainly wasn't going to let go, nor was he going to let her lose her balance while he was there.
And... she turned red (well... redder, considering her headfur was already red) after he spoke? Did he... say something odd, or offending? Maybe he was wrong about that last word. Though upon her apparent acceptance of... whatever precisely he'd apparently said shortly after, the mild look of concern quickly changed to a cheerful grin. And... a blink in curiosity, his ears perking up slightly as one of the local, small avians decided to perch itself on his head. Well, that was... nothing too different for him, admittedly. He was frequent to this place, after all; most of them were probably fairly used to him.
"Slykk," he spoke, glancing pointedly up to the creature for lack of having a free hand at present to be able to point with, hoping she'd get that that was what his kin called the creature. "You can touch it," he added. Ever so carefully he removed one hand from the bark of the tree, reaching only long enough to take one of Cat's and gently bring it up toward the avian creature. It was only that long that he had confidence in that much, before his hand returned to gripping the bark of the tree as a matter of extra stability. How much longer before even he'd have to go back down for now was perhaps the question, but he was certain he could manage for now.
Besides, he was rather enjoying this time not spent alone.

Cat smiled as she watched Kai’s ears perk up. The creature that landed on his head was a tiny bright colored bird like thing. Her smile widened at this. It was cute, hopefully it had no plans of eating her. But there was no time to worry about that. She watched Kai’s eyes gaze up at the small thing. “Slykk” He said.
Was he talking about the bird thing…? Her face puzzled up a bit as she slowly tried to recreate the word, “Sss-sly- slykk? Slykk?” She said aloud, the word feeling funny on her tongue, it wasn’t a word she knew and it didn’t flow from her mouth easily.
He said something else and then he released the tree. She didn’t notice at first that was until he took her hand. “Oh!” she exclaimed a little started. He brought her hand up to the critter suggesting she touch it she guessed?
“Okay, sure…” She whispered a little unsure of herself.
With just a fingertip she gently touched the top of the birds head letting her finger trace along its back. With a smile she reached back to his head with two fingers this time. The avian creature let out a little chirp of acceptance allowing her to pet it.
“Its so cute…”
She remembered her camera with a happy little squeak. “Don’t move!”
The camera moved up to her eye level slowly as she petitioned her finger on the button. Click Got it. click click click He laid into the button letting it rapid fire so she was sure to get atleast one or two good pictures before it would fly away. “Perfect…”
'Slykk' indeed, to which the fox man gave an affirmative nod. So she did understand... this time, at least. The whole process was by no means easy, but it seemed both of them could make do to some degree. Even then, it seemed his new friend was happy with all this. The company (perhaps), the food, the view, the little creature... that 'camera' of hers was seeing no shortage of use, at least. Such a curious little thing... he'd probably have to get one for himself someday. If he could figure out how, and even how to properly work the thing, anyway...
Ah well, thoughts for the future, not the present.
"Now... a fun part. It might even follow us, they do that sometimes," he offered with a cheerful grin, glancing pointedly up to the creature still atop his head for now, before turning his gaze down to one of his cushiony spots for a moment or two. Down he perhaps needed to go; great as the view was, and as much as Cat seemed to be enjoying it, they'd been up there for a little while now, and his arms were starting to get a little tired. Not too tired to pull off his next stunt, mind. Carefully kneeling down a little, he moved one arm from the female's waist up to around her shoulders, the other moving over to come behind her knees. Just as carefully and gently he lifted her up into his arms before slowly standing again more fully. Certainly... not as easy as when he was just doing this on his own... but she was still light enough for him to still manage fairly well.
So since he had her well enough... then down he went, with her in tow. Further and further, in a seemingly laid-out path between the branches, before he hit that cushiony area... with her right there with him.
Well, that'd certainly knock the breath out of him...
"I'm okay," he somewhat breathlessly assured, putting the latter word in the female's tongue and hoping he got that one right as well. "Er... can we see that... 'Hyperion'?" he inquired, glancing off in the direction of the giant thing from the sky that he thought she'd called that. He'd shown her a reasonable part of his world, effectively... naturally, he rather wanted to see some of hers as well.
Oh, and there was the Slykk coming down almost immediately after to return to its temporary little perch on the fox man's head. There was that as well.

"Now... a fun part. It might even follow us, they do that sometimes,” None of this made sense to her, it just sounded like jibberish. But he smiled cheerfully and gazed up at the bird so he must have been talking about it. It would have been nice to understand so maybe she could learn about it, but oh well, they were making due rather well for the barriers.
Cat watched as he gazed down towards the ground. What was he thinking? Was it time to start the climb down. She sighed audibility she wasn’t sure she could make it back down. She would have to forever live in this tree. Sleep, eat and live here. Her camera had returned to her chest just as he knelt down and moved his arm to her shoulders. A gasp escaped her lips as he swooped her up.
Uh-oh where was this going, this couldn’t be good. Was he going to throw her down from the tree!? Her arms wrapped around his neck tighter than they probably should have but she was suddenly terrified and worried for her life. It was all a trick! He was lulling her into a false sense of security. It was over she was dead, she just knew it.
A scream – That was all the could be heard on her way down. She buried her face into him hoping it would all end soon. And it did. Before she knew it they were on the ground again. Her screaming stopped and now she just breathed heavily. ‘Okay’ she heard. She shook her head approvingly… “Okay.” she repeated.
The jibberish that came from his next made no sense but the last word. He had said Hyperion, or at least she thought he had said that. “The Hyperion? My ship?” She watched as he gazed off into the distance. Just then the little bird returned to his head. A giggle escaped her as she reached up to cover her mouth, letting Kai go for a moment.
“So you want to see my home? My ship?” She questioned uselessly as if she excepted to get an answer.
Was this a good idea? He had shown her so much, wouldn’t it make sense to share some of her experiences with him. But what if someone else saw him, how would they react, could she assure him that he was safe and not there to harm him? She didn’t want him to get hurt either. Maybe she could sneak him in. At least show him to her room.
“Okay… but,” she started as she climbed up off of him, “We have to be careful. Careful.” She said as she brushed herself off and lowered a hand down to help him up, trying hard to be polite.
Ah... that. That was... unexpected, and rather more painful than the ensuing landing in the cushiony part, with her own weight aiding in knocking the air out of him where she would've had more cushion thanks to him. More than painful enough, in fact, for his ears to almost instantly snap forward flat against his head, drowning out as much as they could possibly manage. Not perhaps quite enough, but at least it was rather less painful that way.
Nonetheless... it seemed she was indeed alright after the fall. Nothing damaged that he could see, and she seemed to be doing fine, so... yes, it had to be fine. She seemed to repeat at least part of the question, or at least he thought so, and the fox man gave a slight nod... before idly noting the Slykk return atop his head. It had followed them down after all... that, he supposed, wasn't too surprising. And... an odd, but hardly unpleasant sound after. Amusement, perhaps? That... seemed about right. With the following question, Kai gave another affirmative little nod, not quite enough to stir the creature from his head. He assumed that was the correct answer to get what he was after, at least.
Reaching up to take the female's hand when she offered it, he mostly did his own part in getting himself up to his feet, albeit with some small difficulty thanks to the cushion of leaves and other miscellaneous things he'd gathered for the purpose. "Let's go, then," he cheerfully spoke, seeing no reason not to keep a gentle hold on Cat's hand as he began to set off in the direction of this 'Hyperion'. All the better for showing they were friends and he wasn't going to hurt anyone whenever someone might spot them, or so he figured. More so even for the fact that the giant thing wasn't even that far off from his chosen dwelling area, and thus wouldn't take them long at all to get to.
"Er... what now?" he curiously inquired when they at least arrived nearly to it. There would have to be the matter of getting in, and... well, he didn't even know where to start there.

Catrina giggled softly as she watched the bird return to Kai’s head. Funny little creature it was. Her attention was pulled away from the Slykk when the fox creature took her hand. He did most the work but she pulled on him anyways in an attempt to help him up. Once he was on his feet he kept grasp of her hand. Her first reaction was to pull away but she didn’t. Instead she allowed him to lead her away.
Once they arrived close to the ship Kai stopped. Cat could see the Hyperion through the brush. There were a few people out and about but most were busy with their own work. Next was the challenging part, she had to find a way to sneak this critter into the ship without being seen. Suddenly an idea popped into her head. She took her hand from his and put it up in the ‘stay’ motion they had established. “I have an idea!” She whispered rather loudly, “Don’t move, you have to stay here.”
With that off Cat went. She sprinted towards the ships opening and soon disappeared inside. A good bit of time passed, fifteen minutes or so (give or take). No one bothered her on the way in and now she was pushing a cart out with three boxes stacked on it and a folded blanket on the end. There was enough room for someone to sit on the cart beside the boxes. She wheeled the cart to the brush where she had left Kai. “Kai! Kai!” She shouted for him.
Blinking in curiosity as the female held her hand up, Kai gave a little nod and a spoken (in her language, for convenience's sake) 'okay' in confirmation.
Though... perhaps he shouldn't bring the little avian with him, especially if it was (probably) just him being invited along. Ah well, he'd see it again, no doubt, even after he lightly prodded it to fly off from his head and... wherever it might go. Somewhere around, he wasn't really certain. Somewhere a bit better for it for the moment, probably. Beyond that, he watched Cat as he went off toward this big 'Hyperion' thing. When she disappeared into it, the fox man blinked in curiosity, taking some note of the point she disappeared into. He'd probably have to keep that in mind for sometime later, after all.
And then she came back out pushing along something or other... more things completely unfamiliar to him. When she called out to him, he darted quickly over, glancing momentarily to the stuff she was pushing before turning his curious gaze to her, tilting his head slightly to the side.
"What's... this?" he curiously asked, regardless of the unfortunate language barrier that still persisted. He supposed she apparently had some sort of plan, though he'd no clue why it might be any sort of big deal. It was just her home... right?

Kai appeared from the brush. She could see the confused look on his face. She assumed he was asking about the cart so she proceeded to try and explain. “It’s a cart. I’m going to push you inside under a blanket.” She said picked up the folded black fleece blanket.
“Here look. Watch me.” She said pointing to herself.
Next Cat stepped around the cart and climbed up on top of it. She sat down propping her back against the boxes and pulled her knees up to her chest so that both feet now rested just a few inches from her bottom. She proceeded to wrap her arms around her legs and pull them even closer.
“See you have to do this, okay?” With that the red head stood back up. She pointed to Kai and then to the cart. “Go on. Your turn.” She stepped closer to him and gave him a soft nudge towards the thing. Once he was settled she would drape the blanket over him making sure to cover all of him so nothing stuck out.
A... 'cart'? And 'blanket', he believed she said. True, he couldn't exactly specifically confirm either of them, but for now it sounded right, so... he'd just go with it. What they were supposed to actually be for was the real question anyway. This 'cart' was presumably for pushing around, whatever the point of that was... as for the 'blanket', well, who knew. It was there, that was all he really knew at the moment.
Still, with a little nod/shrug and another spoken 'okay', the fox man easily climbed up onto the thing, his eyes otherwise mostly fixated on the point that Cat had entered and exited the 'Hyperion' from.
At this point, he didn't mind too much if he had to stay still in this somewhat odd position for a bit, under the cover of that 'blanket' thing. As long as he got to see more, that was all that really mattered right now.
