Charli had been awake for a while now. She'd felt a surge of energy in the moments before they had crashed. She'd waited for the vibrations from the impact to stop and the sirens to begin before she pushed her way out of her cryogenic chamber. She felt alive, ready and young. Why young? That was strange. She surged over to the nearest mirror and examined her reflection. She was young. About 10 years too young.
She accessed her mental knowledge of the ship. She knew the path to her offices. She knew there were systems she had to get in place before anyone else woke up- particularly the Captain. She made her way to her office, the ships sirens still screaming in her ears. Charli felt her muscles ripple as she walked. The power of movement surged through her body, filling every part of her with powerful endorphins.
Her office was just as she's pictured. It even had the cold chill in the air that she loved. She felt alive. The cold reminded her not to get comfortable in her position. She was aiming high and she wasn't going to let her mother down.
"EOS, establish a separate computing and storage system for me. It must be opened for only my voice."
She had to move quickly. She unlocked the cabinet she knew contained listening devices. She pressed one into her palm and headed out of the office, pausing only to change into a set of commando cargo pants and a singlet. She ran to the Captain's office, knowing that she had perhaps only moments until the others woke up. She rounded the corner and burst into the office. With no one in sight, she pressed the listening device to the very back of his filing cabinet. She would be able to hear everything, know everything, and find the weaknesses she needed. She smiled to herself.
