Late Arrival (Open!)

He was right... the farms produced far more than just stuff for the kitchen. The medical and science probably used many things coming from their own farms. But she didn't realize going to the surface could be so dangerous. She would have to keep that in mind as she knew her curiosity of the outside was already starting to stir about in her mind. Her eyes watched the expression grow somber and she gave a bit of a nod as a small silence fell between them. There was just so much unknown it was a little hard to take in sometimes.

Her eyes moved up to him though as her hand reached for the thing around her neck. It had felt so natural and so light against her skin she hadn't even noticed. "This... is from my family. These charms represent their love, hope, and faith in me." she smiled softly as she touched them and remembered it, but her eyes seemed to think hard as she couldn't exactly tell if that was part of her programming... or something she could actually remember.

But the smell of their meal was just right and she moved towards stove again but with the plates now. She flicked off the flames to the stove and placed a steak on each plate along with some mushrooms and onion slivers. "My family was large but out of the many children in our family that applied, I was the only one to be accepted into the Titan Project." she set the tongs down to the side of the pan, she could wash them after, and brought the plates over to them. "Now wait just a few minutes.. if you cut into the meat as it is right now, the sear on the meat will not contain the best juices." she smiled a bit, and went to the pantry for the steak sauce as well as the ketchup. She took a few small saucers and put a bit of the sauce into each before bringing it over to their meal as well.

She poured a bit of ketchup and steak sauce into each and then a third with a mixture of both together before bringing them over to the table for them to have with the steaks. She then retrieved some cloth napkins from another cabinet and brought them over before glancing around and going back to the fridge to pour them both glasses of milk.

She blushed slightly and shrugged as she walked back over towards him. "It really is no problem, Doctor McKinley. You really helped me when I first woke up so you've earned this. Besides you cannot live off protein bars." she teased softly with a laugh and set the glasses down carefully on the table they were eating at.

"You have a very important position so I expect to see you around here! I'm going to plan some delicious and healthy meals to keep optimal nutrition up. What about sleep... have you been getting enough?" A worried expression crossed her face, she could only provide so much healthy food but sleep was needed to process that nutrition as well.

She laughed softly when he gave his look of mock defiance and shook her head slightly. He was right that a physician and probably many of the important staff members probably would not be able to always get away from their work in order to get the food they needed. Once again the wheels in her mind turned as she thought about what he had to say.

"Then... you put your order in through a message to me and I will make it to go." she grinned a bit. "All you have to do is run by and pick it up. I think I will make that for everyone since I'm sure you are not the only one swamped with work. You cannot let the body suffer though. It is when you need it the most and you haven't been taking care of it that it will fail you." She shrugged and lifted her glass of milk to take a slow drink of it. The sweetness was nice and kind of mellowing as she enjoyed it and gave her lips a light lick feeling her stomach starting to come alive more from the cryo sleep.

Her smile and demeanor brightened when he said he would come by once a day... she could easily pack him a meal stuffed with all sorts of good protein, ample vitamins, and nutrition like no other. In fact her mind was already starting to come up with a list of meals to go. His words about the food, however, brought her back to reality and she blushed. "Oh yes! Yes let's get started." she laughed and picked up her fork and knife to carefully cut a piece of the steak and then pushed one of the cooked mushrooms onto her fork as well.

"This here in front of us is ketchup, A1, and a mixture of both together. Ketchup is a bit tangy yet sweet, the A1 will be a bit spicy, and so the mixture I find is just right but really you don't have to have it." she explained before bringing her fork up to take her first bite. She could taste the spices, and then the meat just simmered on her taste buds as she chewed slowly and closed her eyes to truly enjoy the flavors. Sadly for Lian... she couldn't truly enjoy her own cooking. She could taste ways to only make it better. To improve and how to tweak it. Her eyes opened and she looked at the doctor, wanting to make sure he was enjoying his meal.

Gaius lay still inside his chamber. Entirely still. The feeling was foreign, the feeling of feeling at all that is. His eyes were screwed shut, not willing to accept this eventuality. He was waking up, and though it was not a rapid process, it was happening. He would have groaned, had he had the capacity, but attempting at any sort of noise resulted in bitter failure. He was stuck, frozen in place by his defiant body. Instead of panicking, he combed what little functionality he had, assessing the situation at hand.

The first discernable movement was that of his eyes, blinking at the darkness. This was odd. From what he understood, he should be able to see. Perhaps his sleep had rendered him blind? No, people don't go blind in their sleep, do they?

These thoughts continued with their own brand of uncanny and unwitting composure until he gained full control of his body. But even that was foreign. He understood how it worked, but it was knowledge he hadn't exorcised yet. In a bold move, he threw caution to the wind. He stood. Well, he tried to anyways. The result was far more ridiculous. His knees simply gave out, refusing to obey the commands of their master. Cursing his body's shortcomings, he clutched out into air, trying to find something to brace himself on. Finding nothing, he instead tried again. Once more, he rose and fell.

This was when fear began to overtake him. Uncertainty now took the better of discovery, and his calm was undermined. Struggling to get up, Gaius began to feel the effects of sensory deprivation. Vocal cords were operational, but what good would yelling do? He gave a kind of sound check, concluding that the container that held him was quite small. No, if someone in here wanted to help him, they would have arrived by now. He was on his own. Powered by adrenaline, he made one final attempt. His legs quaked beneath him, giving way once more, but this time leaving him on all fours. He took a gasping breath to proclaim his victory, and he only managed to make himself fall onto his chest. Back to square one.

Little did he know what his awakening had interrupted.

She was enjoying her meal when the beeper went off, her head tilted as she looked at it and for some reason she had no idea what in Hyperion's name it was but it obviously had to be important by the way he quickly hopped to. When he looked like he was leaving she felt a small panic but she wasn't exactly sure why. "I will pack this up in a to go for you!" she turned, quickly heading to the cabinet and pulled out one of the bento boxes and tossed everything inside in separate compartments and quickly put the box into it's bag and held it out one to him. "So when you are hungry you can finish this off." she glanced to the door and drew a breath.

"Would it be okay if I came with you? I can come back and clean the rest of this up later. I will not get into your way but perhaps I can help with what you are doing." She moved to her knife set and quickly folded it up, but decided it would be best if she simply left the object there for now. Instead she put it underneath the table on the small tray area below. Sharp knives weren't a welcome thing in most cases, and she figured they would be safe here.
