She was grateful not to be left alone.. alone seemed just so strange and foreign since she had woken up. She gave him a smile when he held open the door and moved to fall in step with him heading towards where ever he focused. When they reached the room he entered first and she hung back by the door. The last thing she wanted to do was to spook or crowd their fellow crew mate. Her eyes went to the man standing there and he didn't look quite as disturbed as she had when she had woken but maybe he was handling it a little better than her. As the good doctor introduced himself to the man she gave him a soft smile as well but kept quiet for now. She knew the doctor had his procedures to go through so she just hung back and waited to make sure that this man was alright.

Not bothering with pleasantries, the practical child responded to the doctor's words accordingly; "I know," He hadn't in fact known, merely guessed and been correct. Despite being painstakingly aware of this, Brookes spoke with utter confidence, attempting to leave no doubt of his capabilities in the mind of the doctor. "And I'm not." This part was true, he wasn't alarmed. Wary of the other, attentive to his behaviors yes, but alarmed most certainly not. Gaius watched as the doctor spoke, the way he moved, his clinical mindset shining through his every word. That's not to say he did not participate in the conversation the doctor initiated, which was obviously more a procedural ordeal than a matter of interpersonal relation. He provided curt, helpful answers to all of the doctor's questions, giving only as much information as was asked of him; no more, no less. This rule was excepted but once, when he was asked his name, to which he replied only, "Brookes." So enrapt was he in observing and interacting with his very first subject that he almost didn't notice the woman lurking just beyond the doorway.
Not wishing to be rude to the man to which he currently spoke, he shot the woman only the occasional glance. He established through a moment of eye contact that he knew she was there, his soft brown eyes locking onto hers, then made as if his interest were merely passing, a matter of fancy that many a man falls to when gazing upon an unfamiliar face.

As he finished with his questions, Dr McKinley noticed Brookes look over towards the hallway and then back into the room. Jordan instinctively turned to see what he had been looking at. He saw Lian standing near the doorway and gave her a smile. She had been so quiet that he had almost forgotten that she was there. He motioned for her to come over, and turned back to Brookes.
”This is Lian Zhang. She is our head chef.” He said smiling at Brookes. ”Now if you don’t mind, we need to do the last part of your exam. You passed the verbal questions, but now I need to see your motor skills. So please walk over to your closet and put on an article of clothing. Preferably something with buttons.” He held his hand out in the direction of the closet as he spoke.

Lian entered the room a few more feet and bowed her head a bit to the new man who had called himself Brooks. "A pleasure to meet you, Brookes. I do look forward to giving you a nice meal." she bounced every so slightly on her toes. She was bubbly happy for some reason... the human interaction felt wonderful and it helped that Jordan had been so nice to dine with her. Now that she had a bit of a fuller stomach things just seemed to be falling a bit more into place.

Gaius' interest in the woman began to fade at the mention of her profession. There was little room to gain anything of either great intellectual or material value from a chef. Beyond food, that is. Still, no need to burn bridges over something so petty as subjectivity and face value judgement, so the psychologist politely returned her greeting. He emulated her head bow (as it may well have been a custom among her people and he should do well to make her comfortable with him) and formally introduced himself in spite of knowing she had heard his name not a minute before. Again, he spoke only one of his three names. "Brookes. The pleasure is all mine."
Having completed the intricacies that were introducing oneself, Gaius set to work complying with the doctor's orders. The walk to the closet was strong and confident, but if one paid very close attention to Brookes' legs they might notice the slight quaking that took place. He still had not fully recovered from earlier, but he could still execute his task with utmost effeciency.
Following his instruction to the letter, Brookes located the most button-covered outfit and produced it. In one motion, he deftly removed the blue jeans from their shelf, shook them straight, and put them on, zipping and buttoning them around his waist. In a more careful series of movements, he picked out a black dress/t-shirt, removed his robes, and pulled it on. His lean figure was oulined well by the casualwear he now donned, as a glance into the closet's built in mirror indicated, and he liked the look very much. It was professional and yet, edgy.
Turning his mind from his narcissistic impulse to the task at hand, he began buttoning his shirt, with no apparent issues. He fumbled with one or two, but no more than the common man might. Turning back to his assesor and his assesor's companion with a smirk on his lips he asked, "How did I do?"

Jordan closely watched Brookes make his way over to the closet. He analyzed each step, watching for any abnormality in his gait that might suggest underlying issues. As Brookes finished his stroll to the other side of the room and began selecting clothing, Jordan started a mental checklist. Mental abilities intact. No abnormal symptoms. Gross motor skills intact. He continued watching as Brookes began buttoning his shirt. And fine motor skill intact. He thought after Brookes had finished. Jordan looked up and smiled at the man, giving him a small nod.
”Very good.” He reached into his pocket and pulled out his tablet. After pressing a few buttons, he moved it closer to his face. ”Gaius Brookes: Cleared for duty. Signed: Dr Jordan McKinley.” He then slid the tablet back into his pocket before turning his attention back to Brookes. ”Are you having any other issues? If not I plan on going back and finishing my dinner. Of course, if you are hungry, you are welcome to tag along. I’m sure Ms Zhang would love to fix something for you.” He turned to Lian and smiled while finishing his last sentence.
