"Um... we... stay in Hyperion?" Kai curiously inquired, piecing together but a few of the words he did know in these people's language thus far... which still wasn't many, but the list was still growing, and all the better. 'Stay' now included among them, and he didn't waste time in using it after JD had disappeared and he was left in his 'room' now with Cat. Simply speaking, he wanted to stay here. It (probably) wouldn't be hard to get back to his own nearby clearing home, and... that was it now, actually. All he had to go back to.
Sure, the people and everything here was different, but surely it couldn't be bad? They could... at least help him figure out the language and a bunch of the things they had in here, and perhaps the other way around when it came to him knowing a bunch of the things to be found outside this Hyperion. How to actually communicate that was the problem...
"I... will... stay here?" he added in the same foreign (to him) language moments after, his eyes lingering on Cat for some answer even as he waited for JD to come back from... whatever the male was doing.

Cat frowned at ‘Stay’. She wasn’t a dog, she didn’t take commands. So in retaliation she stuck her tongue out at the door as it closed. Kai spoke as Jordan left. His English was improving, considering they started at nothing. “Yea, we are staying.” She nodded her head.
With a sigh Catrina walked over to the bed and plopped down. She didn’t know what the doc was doing or how long he would be gone, so for now it was wait wait wait. Kai spoke again, yet again in English. “Yes for now. I cant keep you here forever… its not safe…” She said with another sigh, casting her eyes downward to stare at the floor below her.
Nervousness set in as she waiting and it showed. He toes tapped on the ground and then she crossed her legs, then uncrossed them again. She wiped her hands on the blue jeans trying to get rid of the sweat that was accumulating on her palms. Was he going to tell someone… surely he wouldn’t rat her out.

He rummaged through the equipment, taking what he needed and packing it into a small bag. When he was sure that he had all that he needed, he opened the door and strode out of the medical wing and back towards his room. He made his was through the corridors and eventually up the elevator. He took a quick glance around, then opened his door and slipped inside.
”Ok. I’m back.” He said as he closed the door behind him. He walked over to the dresser and dumped his bag out. He sorted through the supplies and pulled up a handheld medical scanner.
”First thing’s first. I need to make sure neither of you are carrying any parasites or bugs.” He flipped the scanner on and looked back and forth at Kia and Catrina. ”Don’t worry. It doesn’t hurt. Who’s first?”
While he couldn't exactly understand what Cat said, Kai at least had some feeling that the answer to his request to stay here was in some way a 'no', given that sigh she cast. 'Why not?', he well wanted to ask, but getting that out... was going to be difficult, considering he didn't quite know the words for either. Well... he'd probably find a way, anyway, though one of his ears still drooped slightly on the thought that he perhaps wouldn't be able to stay.
Ah well, it seemed JD was to come back shortly enough, and with... stuff. None of which the fox actually recognized, which itself was already predictable. Even more curious considering that, he wandered over to look over some of the various little unrecognizable things, before his gaze turned to the whatever it was that JD presently held. Giving it a slight, curious sniff (and coming up with nothing of use from it, again predictably), he glanced back to Cat for a moment to see if she might be cautious about the thing in any way.
Ah, right, and might as well ask him as well... perhaps get a second opinion.
"I... will... stay in Hyperion?" he inquired, tilting his head slightly to the side. Otherwise... he was perfectly healthy. A minor rarity for his kin, perhaps, but always sitting on the outskirts of them all and doing things his own way... well, it paid off. Sometimes, at least. Not that he gave it much conscious thought. "Stay... er... with friends?" he added, both pieced together fully in English, albeit with some minor difficulty on his part.

Cat fiddled a while longer but tipped her head up when the door opened. Jordan was back and with stuff in tow. What did he bring with him now and what was he up to. She glanced towards his gear still sitting on the bed as he dumped it all out and sorted through until he found what he was looking for… a scanner.
“We don’t have bugs…” She replied to his comment.
Kai glanced to her looking for reassurance she assumed. This was all foreign to him so she stood up. “Fine.. Im first but only to prove to you I’m clean.” She stepped forward so he could scan her, dropping both her hands down to her side and tilting her head back a bit with another sigh.
Cat smiled as Kai addressed the doctor, wondering if he could stay on board the ship. She knew what Jordan’s reply would be but stayed quiet to let the two interact for once. Once her scan was over she stepped back and sat back down on the bed, resting her head in her hands and her elbows on her knees hunched over just slightly.

As Catrina stepped forward to be scanned, he looked over to Kia. ”No. You can’t stay here. Catrina shouldn’t have even brought you on board without the captains permission.” He looked back at Catrina as he finished the sentence raising his eyebrow slightly. He moved the scanner from her head down to her feet and back up again. The scanner made a quick chirp to signal that it was finished analyzing. He looked down at the screen and then back to Catrina.
”No parasites or bugs. Lots of foreign foliage and pollen.” He pressed some buttons and started the upload to his personal tablet. Later he would go to the science department and get a full analysis. He then walked over to Kia and scanned him. The scanner again chirped and Dr McKinley looked at the screen.
”Same for you Kia. No bugs or parasites.” He then walked back to the dresser and put down the scanner. He rummaged through the supplies and grabbed a needle, some antiseptic, and some blood vials. He turned back to Catina and Kia.
”Ok. I need your help getting this across to Kia.” He said to Catrina. ”I need a blood sample.”
It wasn't 'yes' that he was sure he recognized as an affirmation, so it... probably must have been the opposite. Hrm. That wasn't going to be any good, not when he wanted to stay here and didn't otherwise have any real place for himself.
"Going to anyway..." Kai muttered to himself, in his own tongue. It would have its difficulties, no doubt, but he'd figure something out. If he could see how the others get out and in, then that alone was all he needed; with just that, he'd surely be able to move freely. He'd have to make certain of that on the way out... if he did end up leaving after all.
For now, though... what was this stuff, then? "Need a... huh?" the fox man blinked in curiosity, tilting his head a little to the side. More unfamiliar things, some of which he wasn't sure he quite liked the looks of, but... they wouldn't hurt him, right? Whatever would be the case, his eyes once again turned inquiringly to Cat before they went back to... that other unfamiliar stuff.

No bugs that was good. “Wheres all the space fleas…” Cat muttered under her breath as she crossed her legs and the good doc began his scan on Kai. She knew the fox would be disappointed with having to leave, but he really couldn’t stay. If anyone found out there would be a frenzy. Not to mention the trouble her and Jordan would be in right now. Oh well, that was something to worry about later.
Kai’s scan came up clean which was good as well. The fox creatures muttered something but Cat paid no attention to it. The photographer did catch his eye when he glanced over at her when Jordan mentioned needing blood. “How am I supposed to know how to communicate with him.”
Cat made a puzzled look and held her arm out to the doc. “Do me first and maybe he will follow suit?” Cat said with a shrug. She gave Kai a reassuring smile and she pulled her arm out of the jacket sleeve and let it halfway fall to the bed, still leaving her other arm in it.

Jordan nodded at Catrina’s suggestion. He cleansed the area over the vein he had chosen before getting the needle and blood vials ready as the area air dried. He lined up the needle and slowly lowered it. He gave a steady push, feeling the needle make it’s way through the skin. He kept his pace not too fast or too slow, waiting to feel the needle find the vein. Less than a second later he felt the tell-tell pop as the needle punctured the vein wall. He inserted it a little further to make sure he was all the way in. He watched as the vial filled with blood, little by little. As soon as it was filled, he took out the full vial and replaced it with the next. He filled two more vials before he grabbed the gauze and positioned it over the needle. Then in one move, he removed the needle and covered the site with the gauze. He closed the safety device on the needle and sat it down.
”There, all done. Thank you.” He said to Catrina before turning to Kia.
”See? It’s nothing.” He said, putting on a small smile. The first one since Catrina and Kia had come into is room.
He took blood from her and put it in those little things... that was... well, different. Kai wasn't quite so certain he liked this any more, but maybe if he was good about everything, they would let him stay? It was... worth a try, at least, and enough anyway to get him through this particular relative discomfort in the first place.
So he idly flopped down to a seat on the bed, holding out the same arm that Cat had on the assumption that that might mean anything for this. Calm and still he remained, despite some discomfort, until it was over. It was the best he could do for this, ultimately.
"Er... see... more in Hyperion now?" he inquired afterwards, glancing from JD to Cat. They seemed to say that he couldn't stay, but... they didn't say anything about him looking around, did they?
Well, if they did, he hadn't understood it anyway.

Dr McKinley walked back to the dresser with the full blood vials and sat them down. He pulled out a pen and wrote the names of the respective donors on the side. He then slid them into the bag and turned back towards Kia and Catrina.
”You may get your wish Kia. I need to get this blood to a lab and start the tests before it clots and ruins the sample.” he pause slightly before looking directly at Catrina. ”Besides, I don’t trust you enough to leave you alone at the moment. Now how can we get Kia to the lab without anyone noticing him?”

Cat winced slightly as the needle went in but it was all over soon and really wasn’t that bad. She sat there and watched and Jordan took the fox creature’s blood next. He seemed to handle it well enough, that was good. The last thing they needed was him freaking out.
Kai asked again if he could stay but Cat didn’t know how to get across to him that it just wasn’t safe for him to say. Just then the doctor spoke up. They needed to get to the lab undetected. This should be interesting. “Well there is a cart outside my room we can wheel him there under a blanket or we can walk him there under a blanket like when I got him to your room. Which do you think would draw less attention?” Cat asked looking at the doctor and crossed her leg over the other one reaching back to put her jacket back on.
That 'blanket' was again being mentioned, hm? Well... fine then, if that was how it was going to be, he could at least do his best to go by 'his' terms and walk and look around on his own rather than be stuck on that other thing like he was when Cat initially brought him in. Giving a little shrug, Kai moved over to where the blanket had since been left on the floor, picking it up and wrapping it around himself just as it had been when they'd gone down the hall to this room.
That would have to be good enough... right?
"We... go now?" he asked, tilting his head slightly to the side.

Jordan watched as Kai wrapped the blanket around himself. We are totally going to get busted. He thought to himself as her closed his eyes and rubbed the bridge of his nose. ”Ok. I guess that will work. Let’s go before I snap out of this insanity.” He said while grabbing the bag of samples and walking to the door. ”Stay close, both of you.” He said before slowly opening the door. He stepped into the hallway and started walking towards the labs. He would have to take the back way in to draw the least amount of suspicion. He walked quickly, while not looking like he was in a rush. It wasn’t long before he made it to the labs back entrance. He walked through the doors and entered the first unoccupied lab he came to. The laboratory that he entered was a large, white room with equipment running along the walls. In the middle of the room was a large table with storage underneath. Finally, situated in the far corner of the room was a sink, eye wash station and decontamination shower. Jordan walked over to the table and sat the bag down. He pulled the blood samples out and sat them on the table. ”Make yourselves comfortable. This won’t take long.” He said as he turned to look at them. ”And please don’t touch anything.”

Cat couldn’t help but giggle at Kai as he made the decision for them. Looks like they would all we walking it there. She just hopes it wouldn’t draw to many eyes- a figure cloaked in a blanket wandering the hallways. Oh well it was all or nothing at this point. So with a slight grunt Cat pushed herself up off the bed and made her way over to the fox creatures, placing a gentle hand on his back to guide him on his way.
Their trek went smoothly. Taking the back way in was brilliant. No eyes watching them, no contact with anyone. Now they were in a lab. Cat nudged Kai into the room and closed the door behind her. She had never been in a lab before. Her interests perked up and quickly she was hovering over a matching with her camera drawn up ready to catch its every essence. click click click snap The photos weren’t much but it was things she had never seen before.
